The Heritage Village:

‘Heritage Village’ concept has always been central to the Muscat Festival. It is a part of the festival that puts you directly in contact with the ‘Old Oman’, and gives you a feeling of what life was like in Muscat, and in the interior, hundreds of years ago. The Heritage Village is one of the most well supported items on the festival menu – both by the participants that make up the village ‘population’, and also by local and international visitors that come to witness the spectacle.

Traditional-style music and folk dances are performed every day, and there is a large variety of activities on the go, and a great many craft items and traditional goods being made.

A Festival with International flavours:

Each year, the Muscat Festival attracts a set of international artists and performers that represent the cultural uniqueness of their countries through cuisine, fashion, crafts, dances and acrobatics etc.

Activities include traditional games, various body therapies, and the ever-popular camel and donkey rides. There are also traditional Omani weapons, examples of old agricultural tools from hundreds of years ago, palm frond weaving products, and many more things to see.

Of course, there’s always a lot of shopping going on at the Heritage Village. Perfumes, frankincense and incense, traditional clothing, woven rugs, and a delicious variety of Omani food dishes can be bought and enjoyed.
